PSU Friends of History will observe Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a free lecture on May 20 on “Early Portland and Japanese Immigration” in Cramer Hall, Rom 494 startng at 7:00pm.
The lecture, entitled “Early Portland and Japanese Immigration” is part of Friends of History’s acknowledgment of the historical contributions of Asian and Pacific Islanders in the United States and its associated territories. Starting in the early 1800s and continuing through present times, Asian and Pacific immigrants have played an important role in the development of the United States, making vital contributions which helped to shape American society and technology.
The Friends of History is the non-profit support group spotlighting the excellence and achievements of the History Department at Portland State University. The FOH volunteers present various free educational programs throughout the year including panel discussions, lectures, book signings and the annual Endowed Lecture in History.
